Giraffe Center – Nairobi
Giraffe Center is located in Karen, Nairobi approximately 20 Kilometers from Nairobi’s Central Business District. It was established in 1979 by Jock & Betty Leslie Melville (husband and wife) who saw the plight of Rothschild Giraffes in Western Kenya and decided to establish a safe haven for the giraffes at their Karen home in Nairobi. Since the establishment of the center, it has had a huge success leading to the introduction of several breeding pairs of Rothschild giraffes that are seen today in Kenya’s national parks across the country.
