Brief Itinerary

DAY 1 : Nairobi – Aberdare National Park
On arrival in Nairobi, our driver guide will pick you up in the early hours of the morning and proceed to Aberdare National Park. You will arrive at Aberdare Country Club just in time for lunch and thereafter proceed to The Ark Lodge for check in and a short rest in the afternoon. Later on in the afternoon at approximately 15h30, you will proceed for an afternoon game drive in Aberdare National park till evening. Return to the lodge for dinner and retire for the night. Dinner & overnight at The Ark Lodge on Full Board Basis.
Aberdare National Park is situated around the Aberdare Mountain ranges, East of The Great Rift Valley & is approximately 100 kilometers from Nairobi City. It is stretched over over different types of terrain varying from 2,000 metres (6,600 feet) to 4,000 meters (13,000 feet). The park was established in 1950 to conserve and protect the eco-system within the area. It is home to over 250 bird species and a good number of wild animals. Some of the birdlife that can be found in the park include Jackson’s Spurfowl, Sparrow hawk, African Fish Eagle, Plovers among others. Its a great place to enjoy sightseeing of wild animals including some of the Big 5 such as Lions and Leopards as well as other wild animals that include Elephants, Olive Baboons, Black & White Colobus monkeys & Sykes monkeys, Elands, Waterbucks, Cape Bufallos and many more.
DAY 2 : Aberdare National Park – Ol Pejeta Conservancy
After an exciting journey into the Aberdares, you will proceed further North to Ol Pejeta Conservancy where you will arrive at Serena Sweetwaters Camp just in time for lunch. Take a short rest in the afternoon before beginning your afternoon game drive at 15h30 until sunset. You will return to the camp for dinner and overnight stay. Dinner and overnight at Serena Sweetwaters Camp on Full Board Basis.
Ol-Pejeta Conservancy is a not-for-profit wildlife conservancy situated in between the foothills of Kenya’s tallest mountain, Mount Kenya and Aberdare Ranges in Central Kenya. It lies West of the Equator line in Nanyuki town, measuring approximately 360 square kilometers (140 square miles). The conservancy boasts of having the largest population of black rhinos in East Africa and is famous for being the home to the 2 remaining Northern White Rhinos in the world, Najin &Fatu, both of who are female. The conservancy has over 300 species of birds and variety of wildlife including the Big 5 animals i.e. Lion, Bufallo, Rhino (Black Rhino, Northern White Rhino &Southern White Rhino species), Leopard & Cheetah. Ol- Pejeta Conservancy also has a Chimpanzee sanctuary which provides a safe haven for orphaned, abandoned & rescued chimpanzees. It is the only place in Kenya where one can view Chimpanzees. Despite having a large wildlife population, the conservancy has sucessfully integrated both wild and domestic animals, running a livestock program of rearing Borana Cattle herds within the conservancy area.
DAY 3 : Ol- Pejeta Conservancy – Samburu Game Reserve
You will have breakfast at the camp early in the morning before checking out and depart towards Samburu National Reserve. Arrive at the camp just in time for check-in and lunch. After lunch, have a short rest before having an afternoon game drive in Samburu National Reserve. Overnight at Ashnil Samburu Camp on Full Board Basis.
Samburu National Reserve is located approximately 350 kilometers from Nairobi City. It borders the banks of Ewaso Ng’iro river in Northern Kenya. It lies at an altitude of between 800 – 1200 meters above sea level measuring 165 square kilometers in size. It is considered to be among the smallest wildlife parks in Kenya, rich with wildlife. Being in a semi-arid area, the park is home to a variety of bird and animal life such as Somali Ostrich, Beisa Oryx, Reticulated giraffe, Gerenuk, Grevy’s Zebra & Guenther’s DikDik etc. While in Samburu, you have the opportunity to visit one of the Samburu Villages where the local community, the Samburu people, live and get to enjoy their rich cultural heritage that they have preserved since the pre-colonial period.
DAY 4 : Full day at Samburu National Reserve
Breakfast will be at the camp. Thereafter, you will embark on a full day game drive with packed lunch in Samburu to get a proper view of the wildlife in the area. Your guide will be with you all the way to show you the best places to view the wild animals in their natural habitat. Return to the camp later in the evening for dinner and relax for the remainder of the day. Overnight at Ashnil Samburu Camp on Full Board Basis. Due to the hot climate that is experienced in Northern Kenya, you have an option of doing an early morning game drive before breakfast at 06h30 which offers the best time to view wildlife and an afternoon game drive at 15h30 or depart for a full day game viewing with picnic lunch.
DAY 5 : Samburu National Reserve – Nairobi
Depart Samburu area and head towards Nairobi with packed lunch & arrive just in time for your flight back home. Arrival will be in the early afternoon which provides ample time to get to the airport and check in with your airline.
