Nairobi is the capital city of Kenya and the starting point for many bush safaris. Just over a century ago, Nairobi was little more than a water depot. Nairobi which means ‘cool water’ in the Maasai language, is now the main gateway to East Africa and gives access not only to Kenya, but also Uganda and Tanzania. Nairobi is the only city in the world with a national park within its environs. Since it was founded a little over a century ago, the city has grown at a very fast rate with more than 5 million people living and working in the city.
DAY 2 : Explore the Land of the Jumbos | Amboseli National Park
On your 2nd day in Amboseli, you will have an early morning game drive that will offer you the opportunity to catch the glorious snow-capped Mt. Kilimanjaro offering the best photography back drop. You will then continue on a full-day game drive in Amboseli with packed lunch and return to the camp in the evening. Overnight at Kibo Safari Camp on Full Board Basis.
Amboseli National Park lies at the foot of Africa’s highest mountain, Mt. Kilimanjaro (19,340ft). The mountain dominates every aspect of the park and you can get the best views of its snow-capped peak from Amboseli. The park’s ecosystem supports a variety of game and is famous for its large herds of elephants. Swamps and springs, fed by underground rivers from Kilimanjaro’s melting snow, offer a watering place for the wildlife and birds during the dry season. There is plenty to do, including game viewing, walking, visit a Maasai village or visit the Amboseli Research Centre, the longest study of wild elephants in the world.
DAY 3 : Amboseli – Tsavo West National Park
After a sumptuous breakfast in the heart of Amboseli, you will depart to your next destination, Tsavo West National Park. You will begin with a game drive enroute to your lodge for check in and lunch. Have a short rest in the afternoon before embarking on an afternoon game drive at 15h30 till sunset then return to the lodge for dinner and retire for the night. Overnight at Kilaguni Serena Safari Lodge.
Tsavo West National Park is located in South West Kenya, approximately 270 kilometers from the capital city, Nairobi. It forms part of the larger Tsavo Conservation area which includes Tsavo East National Park and surrounding conservancies. The park is separated from its neighboring Tsavo East National Park by the Nairobi – Mombasa Highway. Established in 1948, it covers over 9,000 square km land coverage making it the second-largest National park in Kenya. Tsavo West’s star attraction is Mzima Springs which is a pool of natural spring water with underwater viewing hides for viewing hippos.
